The ability to get up from your bed or chair and walk safely is essential to remaining independent. Unfortunately, falls are common in adults 65 years of age and older. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about thirty-six million falls are reported among older adults each year.
There are many devices that can help to assist a senior to walk when it gets a little difficult. You can use a cane or a 3-prong cane if your balance is good. When balance is less secure, there are front wheeled walkers to help as well as a 3 or 4 wheeled rollator with a seat.
See your MD or a physical therapist to assess and recommend what is best suited for your parent or loved one.
